Năm xưa Tây tiến nay Đông tiến
Sao nhớ cho vừa – Sao nhớ ơi!
Thèm ngủ dọc đường, cơm vắt nắm
Đêm khuya đèn đóm, lũ ma trơi
Ta có bạn hiền đi chiến đấu
Từ khi sông lạc nước khô nguồn
Nghe tiếng mẹ già rơi nước mắt
Giữa ngày giặc chiếm đất Bồng Sơn
Ai qua Dak-mot, xuôi Ben-het?
Thở gió Tam Biên, gió Hạ Lào
Loáng thoáng một mùi tanh của máu
Những ai buông súng giữa rừng sâu
Năm xưa Tây tiến, nay Đông tiến
Về núi Tà Lơn xuống Biển Hồ
Ta biết người buồn say rất nhẹ
(Một hồn du tử ở phương xa)
Ta biết người buồn trăng chết đuối
Bởi đêm Chùa Tháp thiếu Ngàn Mây
Thoảng điệu dù-kê (*) mùa rước nước
Nghe câu vọng cổ khóc không hay
Bỗng thấy thêm yêu đời trận mạc
Là khi đất nhú một chồi xanh
Một người bỏ phố đi vì nước
Một kẻ lêu bêu khóc vận mình
Năm xưa Tây tiến, nay Đông tiến
Sao nhớ cho vừa đây, Tiếng ơi!
(*) Dù kê: một vũ điệu, ca múa của người Khmer ở Sóc Trăng, Bạc Liêu, Trà Vinh, v.v…

Ben Het – Soldiers on Ground in Battle
(Original Caption) An American Caribou cargo plane parachutes urgently needed supplies into the besieged Green Beret camp at Ben Het. Until a convoy fought its way along the road 6/25, the camp could only be resupplied by air. On 6/26, South Vietnamese troops behind tanks and armoured personnel carriers drove another wedge in the North Vietnamese encirclement and opened a second road to the camp. Here, soldiers are shown lying on the ground in battle.
